Dancing is now being hailed as one of the best ways for oldies to exercise…. Here’s a quote from Age UK:

“Of all the performing arts, dance is the one that has emerged as the most therapeutic when it comes to staving off the mental and physical ravages of old age.

Luckily, it is also the simplest… and the cheapest. All you need is a clear space, some inspirational music and the ability to move around to it.

Even better than dancing in the privacy of your own home, however, is finding a local dance class to attend, where you could be introduced to different steps and styles, as well as making new friends.”

This is a group suited to those who have line dancing experience or are experienced dancers in other genres and can pick up steps and sequences easily. There is a separate, taught, beginners line dancing group for those wanting to begin line dancing.

The Improvers group is not a taught class but an opportunity to enjoy favourite dances. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate dances they enjoy for the group to learn.

Please note: With all exercise groups, the u3a expects those participating to have regard to any physical limitations they may have. We don’t mind if you need to sit out at times.
